Tell Me Lies

New England Bay Sharks #1

Hannah Gray

Single Dad/ Hockey Romance

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Being a New England girl, I am always intrigued when a book is set there. I love a good hockey book, and I know that Hannah Gray can write a good one as I have read her Brooks University series. I have to say it was refreshing to see that the hockey team was set somewhere other than Boston or Providence. I also thought it was refreshing that it was named after the region instead of a city (as most of our professional teams are). I was excited to read this and it did not disappoint.

We first meet Logan with his life turning upside down. Logan needs a nanny and fast, his current nanny who has helped raise his daughter Amelia from birth has landed her dream job across the country. The new season starts in a couple of weeks. Logan is a hands on dad and doesn’t trust a lot of people to watch his daughter. His team mate’s wife has a friend.

That friend is none other than spicy romance author Maci. Maci was on top of the world until it all came crashing down with 2 events. She doesn’t know how much more her readers will stick around through this writers block she has. When her friend Poppy takes her to meet Logan and Amelia, she thinks she can use the change of scenery. She agrees to a six week trial to buy Logan some time and her to clear her head.

Maci and Amelia hit it off. Logan see this and everyday is more interested in her, he even reads her past books. Logan is the king of dad jokes, but when he knows she is struggling to write he offers to be her muse. After a trip to Santa’s Village ( so cool that this made into a book, it was down the street from where I lived), his offer to be her muse ramps up.

I love that he was not intimated by her career or success, he was her biggest cheerleader. Even with the secret that is the plot is revealed, I loved the character development for them to overcome it. The story even though he was a famous hockey player and her a semi famous indie author felt like a small town romance with the girl/boy next door feel. I love that he was supportive of her career for a change. I thought it was a great story and I can’t wait for the next book. The story line was great, the characters were like-able, and the spicy parts were hot. Especially the shower scene.
